The Thing about Curl Defining Products...

Wether you have kinks, coils, or curls, you can always take advantage of curl defining products. What are Curl Defining Products? Have you gone to the hair product aisle and seen products such as...XYZ Curl Defining Pudding and ABC Curl Enhancing Gel. (fictitious names, of course).  Well, the purpose of those products are to define your hair strands to give it the look of curls.

Now, everyone have different types and textures of hair. The important thing to know, first hand, is that these products will not create curls that do not exist. Let's say your hair type is more of a zig-zag look, these products will not make it into a s-curl look. The purpose of these curl defining products is to clump your coils or curls together.  Some people might have to twist their hair to create more curly hair look.

For me, different products clump my hair strands differently.

For example, the picture below, shows how my hair clumps together with Tresemme Natural Conditioner left in.

Here is the same area of hair after Generic Paul Mitchell Leave In Conditioner and Eco Styler Gel (Krystal) has been applied.

This is the same hair with Generic Paul Mitchell Leave in Conditioner and  Shea Moisture Curl Enhancing Smoothie

This is with Taliah Waajid Curl Sealer

What product(s) do you use to "clump" your hair?

  1. Good info, I tried Tressemme conditioner yesterday for the first time, doing the Curly Girl Method. It works very well with both textures, I like that! After applying that I needed something for shine, my Eco styler gel didn't do the trick. Will keep searching.
My hair has a low porosity as it turned white from the conditioner...

I know we are close, I'm a year transitioning in July.

    1. I also never had much luck using the Eco Styler gel on top of the Tresemme Conditioner. I do the conditioner only method. For shine, I use Castor oil. I just started adding Almond oil and love it. I am so proud of you... how long are you planning to transition for? I am thinking I will do it for 2 years or until I run out of relaxed ends.

  2. I've not tried the Olive Oil or the Pink one. I love the Argan one. The Crystal one gives me whitish stuff.
