How do you wash your natural hair?

Image
I wash my hair in twists to help reduce tangles and breakage. Here are the steps I take. - Lightly mist hair with warm water - Section hair  - Apply coconut oil or a preshampoo treatment  - Detangle and Twist hair Sometimes after doing this, I would wait a few hours or overnight. - Thoroughly rinse hair with warm water until water runs clear. This will remove some surface product buildup. - Apply shampoo on the scalp. - Use a shampoo brush to massage scalp  to remove any product buildup from scalp. - Rinse hair - Apply a little shampoo on the twists and squeeze in - Rinse thoroughly and towel dry with microfiber towel . Products I currently use: Coconut oil:  https://go.magik.ly/ml/1r9te/ Shampoo:  https://amzn.to/3YRj9qc Shampoo brush:  https://amzn.to/3Sj4vW6 Microfiber Towel:  https://amzn.to/3IkDv4a In my next post, I will be sharing how I nourish my hair and condition it to help strengthen it and also hydrate it prior to styling. How to Start a Curl Pattern on Natural Hair

Image
Picture credit afrozuri_ (IG) Today during my daily live at 7am CST, this question was asked “How do you start a curl pattern in your hair”? My answer: You do not start a curl pattern, you are born with your own unique curl pattern. However, that curl pattern can change. Here are some things that can change it: - Use of heat - Using the wrong products - Using combs too much - Over stretching your hair  - Over manipulation of your hair - As you age, your curl pattern could change - Medications - Coloring your hair Here are some things that can help maintain your curl pattern - Stop using heat - Stop using products that changes the appearance of your hair, for example some hair dyes could do this - Use your fingers more than a hair tool - Keep your hair hydrated.

What Are Dormant Hair Follicles?

Image
What Are Dormant Hair Follicles? When hair follicles stop producing hair altogether, that hair follicle is now considered dormant, and future hair growth from that follicle is unlikely if not impossible. If you have balding areas, those follicles might not yet be completely dormant.  Do not confuse hair that is in the resting phase of hair growth circle with dormant  hair. How can hair become dormant? Dormant hair follicles can occur from physical damage to the hair follicle, leading to it no longer being able to grow hair. Or, more commonly, hair follicles can be slowly miniaturized from exposure to a hormone called DHT (dihydrotestosterone). It can also be caused by damage to scalp caused by accident, chemical burn, product burn.  How to know if your hair is dormant or in resting phase  Dormant hair follicles mean that the growth phase has probably shortened over the course of many cycles, and the hairs keep getting shorter, finer, and thinner. If hair sheds during the exogen phase

When parting your child’s hair for a style and you see small hair that is not the same length of the surrounding hair, it could be breakage or new growth.  This can make your parts not to be as perfect as you want. Watch this to see an example https://fb.watch/iuBtJx9mJd/?mibextid=cr9u03 What can you do: You can part in a different section. After doing the hair, you can apply some mousse and tie down the hair with a scarf. Doing the week when you remoisturize the hair, make sure to tie down with a scarf for at least 10 minutes. #kidshairstyles #naturalhair #cornrows #cornrowstyles #cornrowstyles
