When too much heat and smoke comes out while using a straightening brush, it’s a warning sign 🚨 — and your hair may be getting damaged. Here’s what it usually means: 🔥 What Excessive Smoke Means 1. Your Hair Is NOT Fully Dry This is the #1 cause. Water trapped in the hair is turning into steam Steam lifts and cracks the cuticle This causes internal damage (called bubble hair) 👉 Hair must be 100% dry before using any heat tool. 2. Product Buildup Is Burning Oils, creams, leave-ins, and edge controls can burn when heat is applied. Smoke = product cooking on your hair This leads to dryness and breakage 🚫 Never flat iron or brush straightener over heavy oils or grease. 3.
