My husband is the most patient person I know. I decided to go on a search for the best shower mirror I could find. There were some things I wanted from the mirror: (1) Size: Large enough for me to see my entire hair (2) Fool-Proof Installation (3) It can't damage my shower wall (4) and most important: Fog-Resistant The first store I dragged The Man to was Target , there we found two types of mirrors; each reasonably priced. The most priciest of the two had suction cups. I was not a fan of that one. The second one had Command strips. To me, that was better, so I thought. I, however, did not buy either of these. Off we went to the next store, Bed Bath and Beyond . Thinking I would get a better selection and price. Who was I kidding? BB and B is not Target! The price was nearly double and even some were triple that of Target. Haba!! After using silicone and mineral oil products regularly on my hair, it is now time to recover my hair back to its vital and luscious look. Like in this picture below: Here is my plan:

I saw it in my Facebook feed, that SheaMoisture sale. I had missed the CVS BOGO sale, since I had spend all my dough at the Nzuri Hair Festival . I debated, " Should I buy some SheaMoisture?". I know I had to.   Off I went to Walgreens with hopes of just buying the Curl and Style Milk, a product that works very well on my hair and both my girls' hair. We had run out a week ago, and I was now using the Thickening Growth Milk, which was ok, but not as great. When I got to Walgreens, I saw that the Purification Shampoo. Was my eyes deceiving me?  It was only.... Yeah! So, I put it in my basket.... Happy as can be, I headed to the checkout. Just to be told by the clerk that..... YOU CAN ONLY BUY 4, at a time. The first thing I noticed with my hair with using Silicone and Mineral Oil was the incredible shine. Now, I have this weird feeling that the shine will not last, but we'll just have to wait till tomorrow to see.   I am embarking on an experiment to see if Silicones and Mineral Oil are really bad for my hair. Or should I say, what will happen when I use them.

Featured on CurlyNikki.com After trying wrapping of my natural hair for a stretch, I decided to the Airplaning method. Which is usually done on relaxed hair. LOL!  I love how BIG and fluffy it made my hair. Not only was the style wearable, it also provided a great stretch for other styles like updo , braidouts , and twistouts . Washing your natural hair can be a learning process. For me, I find that trial and error and truly learning about what my hair likes and doesn't like helps makes the process easier. Here are some helpful tips. 1. If your hair is very tangled, detangle it prior to washing. 2. Wash your hair in sections. This not only reduces the tangles that can occur, it also helps you get to your scalp to give it a thorough cleansing 3. Condition! Condition! Condition! If you experience excessive dryness, doing  a deep conditioning section can help restore the moisture and softness that was lost. 4. After washing, do not immediately dry your hair ( use a T-shirt, by the way ), just squeeze out the excess water and then apply your leave in conditioner and oil. Let your hair air dry in twists or braids before doing the actual styling process.   Watch how I incorporate these tips in the video below:    

Our family travelled to Nigeria and one of the things that I had to determine was what style the girls and I would wear. It might seem like an easy decision to some, for me, I had 3 things I wanted from the style. 1. It had to be a style that required no extensions added 2. It needed low manipulation and maintenance 3. It had to be creative. My style Originally, I wanted to cornrow my hair similar to this: However, due to time constraints, I was not able to dedicate time to create the style. I ended up putting my hair in a quick updo. That was very low manipulative and even when I had to restyle it, I only did it once and tweaked the front to look a little different. The Girls For Big Sis, I decided to create 3 sections of twists that could be easily restyled into multiple styles. This is crucial because the plan for traveling is to spend time with family, not styling hair. This style, which will be in a later video , worked very well throughout the trip. Lil Sis...
