Can Coconut Oil Cause Dandruff?

Image
Coconut oil itself is not typically a cause of dandruff. In fact, coconut oil has antifungal and antibacterial properties that may help control scalp conditions that can lead to dandruff. However, if you have a sensitivity or allergy to coconut oil, it could cause irritation or itching on the scalp, which could potentially lead to dandruff. Additionally, if coconut oil is not properly absorbed or leaves a residue on the scalp, it could contribute to buildup and potentially lead to dandruff. Generally, coconut oil is considered beneficial for hair and scalp health, but individual reactions can vary.

Why does my natural hair feel hair after blow drying it?

Image
When blow-drying natural hair, it can sometimes feel dry or rough due to the heat and manipulation. Here are some reasons why this might happen: • Damage to the cuticle : Blow-drying can cause friction and heat damage to the hair cuticle, leading to dryness and roughness. • Moisture loss : The heat from blow-drying can strip the hair of its natural oils and moisture, leaving it feeling dry and brittle. • Over-manipulation : Using excessive force or tugging on the hair while blow-drying can cause breakage and lead to dry, rough patches. To combat this, try using a heat protectant spray or cream before blow-drying, reduce heat settings, use a diffuser attachment, or incorporate nourishing hair masks and leave-ins to keep your hair hydrated and healthy.  #naturalhair #blowdrying #blowdryinghair #blowdryingtips

Can Oiling Your Scalp Too Much Cause Dandruff?

Image
Yes, oiling your scalp too much can cause dandruff . Excessive oil production can lead to a buildup of oil and dead skin cells on the scalp, creating an environment where yeast and fungus can thrive, leading to dandruff . Additionally, excess oil can irritate the scalp and cause inflammation, which can also contribute to dandruff. It's important to find the right balance of oil for your hair and scalp type and not overdo it. To fix the problem of oiling your scalp too much and causing dandruff, you can try the following: 1. Use a gentle shampoo: Switch to a gentle, sulfate-free shampoo that won't strip your scalp of its natural oils. 2. Reduce oil usage: Scale back on the amount of oil you're applying to your scalp or hair. 3. Use a clarifying shampoo: Occasionally use a clarifying shampoo to remove product buildup and excess oil. 4. Try a scalp scrub: Exfoliate your scalp with a gentle scrub to remove dead skin cells and excess oil. 5. Balance oil production: Use prod...

How Should I Store My Rosemary Water

Image
HOW SHOULD I STORE MY ROSEMARY WATER? Once you have made your rosemary water, how should you store it?  If you have made your own rosemary water at home, it is recommended to  pour your rosemary water into a clean glass container, such as a tall glass bottle. Store your rosemary water in a cool, dry place like your refrigerator. You can even make your rosemary water last longer by adding preservatives , such as citric acid to inhibit the growth of microorganisms in the rosemary water.  While rosemary water itself has natural antimicrobial properties, adding preservatives can provide an extra layer of protection against spoilage.  Remember, while preservatives can help extend the shelf life of rosemary water, it’s still essential to store it properly and use it within a reasonable timeframe. Additionally, you can also freeze your rosemary. It is advisable to freeze rosemary water in small portions to avoid repeatedly thawing and refreezing the entire batch. By...

What does Hydrolyzed Mean in Hair Products

Image
When you buy hair products and see the word “Hydrolyzed “, do you know what that means? This means that the ingredients such as hydrolyzed protein, has become small enough to adhere (stick, enter) to the hair shaft.  “For centuries, eggs have been the “go-to” at-home hair treatment, but according to the Textbook of Cosmetic Dermatology, any proteins that have not been hydrolyzed, (including eggs) are too large to penetrate into the hair shaft and bond onto the hair.” You may dispute this and say, well, when you use eggs, your hair feels strong. It is possible the egg has simply coated your hair and has not penetrate in. This coating usually lasts for a few days.  Unlike when you use products that have hydrolyzed properties, the effect lasts longer and you don’t have to repeat the process so often

Why do stylists put gel on the scalp?

Image
@nas_thestylist  Before I answer the question, “Why do stylists put gel on the scalp, have you ever wondered if it is okay to put gel on your scalp?” It's generally not recommended to apply gel directly on your scalp. Gels can be too harsh and dry out your scalp, leading to irritation or buildup. Instead, focus on using gentle, scalp-friendly products like serums or lightweight oils. If you must use gel, try applying it only to your hair strands, starting a few inches away from your scalp. Now why do stylists do this? Stylists apply gel  on the scalp for various reasons: • To create a sleek, smooth look by holding down flyaways and frizzy hair • As a primer for hair color or chemical treatments to help them penetrate evenly • To add texture and definition to certain hairstyles • To help control and hold a style in place, like a sleek updo or braids Gel can provide hold, texture, and a smooth base for styling, making it a versatile product in a stylist's toolkit. Oiling Your Belly Button For Hair Growth

Image
There are several websites talking about how oiling your belly button with castor oil can help make your hair shiny, induce hair growth and reduce hair fall. Oiling your belly button is not proven to have a direct impact on hair growth or health. While castor oil has been used traditionally for hair care, its effectiveness is primarily linked to direct application to the scalp and hair follicles rather than absorption through the skin. To promote hair health, focus on using hair-specific products, avoid damaging habits like excessive heat styling, and maintain a balanced diet rich in vitamins and minerals. If you decide to try it for hair growth, learn how to use it and use small amounts at a time.  Make sure the castor oil is organic hexane free like this one However, oiling your belly button has helped people with detoxing their body, improve gut health, better skin, menstrual cramp, acne, blemishes, joint pain, fibroid, acts as an antioxidant and so much more. What does lemon do to natural hair?

Can Lemon Damage Your Natural Hair? Yes, lemon can damage your natural hair if used excessively or undiluted. How Does Fasting Affect Your Hair?

Image
There are different types of fasting people do: water only fasting, fruit fast, intermittent fasting, alternate day fasting, the list goes on. There are positive results from fasting and also there can be some negatives. Understand what happens to your body when you fast is important. When you fast, your body goes into a state of ketosis, where it starts to break down stored fat for energy. What Treatment should You Do After a Silk Press?

Image
@fabellousbeauty Deep conditioning is generally recommended after a silk press. This is because silk pressing can strip the hair of its natural oils, and deep conditioning helps to restore moisture and hydration.  Protein treatments are beneficial for repairing and strengthening the hair, but it's best to use them before styling techniques that involve heat styling tools.  Here are some deep conditioning treatments you can try after a silk press: - Use a deep conditioning masque specifically formulated for heat-styled hair. - Leave the treatment on for at least 30 minutes to ensure your hair gets enough moisture. - Use a heat protectant spray to help lock in moisture and protect your hair from heat damage. These treatments will help restore moisture and hydration to your hair, leaving it feeling soft and looking healthy. #silkpress #silkpressnaturalhair #discoveringnatural

Benefits of Pepper for Hair and Scalp Health
