What does Hydrolyzed Mean in Hair Products

When you buy hair products and see the word “Hydrolyzed “, do you know what that means?

This means that the ingredients such as hydrolyzed protein, has become small enough to adhere (stick, enter) to the hair shaft.

“For centuries, eggs have been the “go-to” at-home hair treatment, but according to the Textbook of Cosmetic Dermatology, any proteins that have not been hydrolyzed, (including eggs) are too large to penetrate into the hair shaft and bond onto the hair.”

You may dispute this and say, well, when you use eggs, your hair feels strong. It is possible the egg has simply coated your hair and has not penetrate in. This coating usually lasts for a few days.

Unlike when you use products that have hydrolyzed properties, the effect lasts longer and you don’t have to repeat the process so often
