Can You Leave Conditioner in Your Hair Overnight?
Deep conditioning can help with the moisture and nutrient adaptation of your hair. It can help to hydrate your hair and make it softer.
Most deep conditioning will tell you on the product direction how long to leave it in. However some people feel the need to leave it in for hours.
In my opinion, it is unnecessary because usually after 30 minutes, your hair would have absorbed the amount of the deep conditioner properties as needed. Any time afterwards is unnecessary and you risk causing moisture overload to your hair. Moisture overload can lead to hair feeling limp, gummy and lifeless. This can also lead to hygral fatigue, which causes hair to be fragile and break.
So next time you deep condition, follow the direction on the product and if you make homemade deep conditioners that work for you, leave in for 30 minutes.
To intense deep conditioning, cover hair with plastic cap, wrap with a warm towel for 30 minutes. You can also use a heated cap or sit under a hooded dryer or use a steamer (no need for plastic cap if steaming)
