What Causes Boils in Scalp?

Boils on the scalp are typically caused by a bacterial infection, usually staphylococcus aureus, which enters the body through small cuts or scratches in the skin. Other factors like diabetes, weakened immunity, and poor hygiene may increase the risk of developing boils. Boils can be painful and may lead to complications like abscesses or cellulitis if left untreated. Proper diagnosis and treatment by a healthcare professional are recommended.

Treating boils on the scalp requires careful attention to promote healing and prevent complications. Here are some steps to help:

• Warm compresses: Apply a warm, moist compress to the boil for 10-15 minutes, 3-4 times a day, to bring the pus to the surface.

• Keep it clean: Wash your scalp with an antibacterial shampoo and soap, and rinse thoroughly.

• Avoid picking or squeezing: Resist the temptation to pop or squeeze the boil, as this can push bacteria deeper and worsen the infection.

• Topical creams or ointments: Apply antibiotic creams or ointments like Neosporin or Bacitracin to the affected area.

• Draining: If the boil comes to a head, your healthcare provider may drain it safely.

• Antibiotics: In severe cases or if the boil doesn't improve, your healthcare provider may prescribe antibiotics.

• Rest and relaxation: Rest and reduce stress to help your body fight the infection.

Remember, if you experience fever, swelling, or increased pain, seek medical attention. It's essential to follow proper treatment to prevent complications and promote healing.
