Wash Day with Amla Powder - February 8th 2015

I decided to do an Amla treatment on my hair, after reading CurlyNikki's post on it. I have used Amla in the past, but strayed away from it due to being introduced to other products. In the past, I usually make my amla oil this way:

However, today, I decided to just follow the package instructions:
Take required quantity of Powder, Add little water, mix well and make a thick paste.

I applied the Amla paste to my scalp, massaged my scalp, and then applied it to the length of my hair.

I'm a brunette!!

I covered my hair with a plastic cap and waited 45 minutes. After that, I rinsed it thoroughly under the shower. Then cleaned my scalp and hair with the old formula Elasta QP Crème Conditioning Shampoo; another oldie of mine.

When the residue of the Amla has been cleansed off my hair and the shampoo rinsed, I applied some Eden Bodyworks Cowash Conditioner on my hair to assist in soften it a little. The Amla makes your hair feel very soft. Do not use a Protein Deep Conditioner when using this Amla Paste.

Sidenote: I used the cowash conditioner, because I forgot to bring a rinse out conditioner to the shower with me.

For my deep conditioner, I used the SheaMoisture SuperFruit Complex 10-in-1 Renewal System Hair Masque and left it on my hair for an hour.

After rinsing, my hair felt strong and SUPER soft... like butta!!

Reach in and touch!!
My post wash routine:
  • Final rinse with a cup of Aloe Vera Juice
  • Spritz scalp and hair with Rose Water (due to my winter-scalp dryness)
  • Applied oil to my scalp
  • Massage
  • Applied oil to my hair
  • Used another oldie product, Giovanni Direct Leave In Conditioner
  • Twist and band with pantyhose hair tie
