Flaxseed and Flexirods : Wash Day Dairy

It's really cold outside and the last thing I wanted to do was to wash my hair. However, I needed to get a fresh look since my Wash and Go using my DIY flaxseed gel had run its course.

I started by washing my hair with Naturalicious Moroccan Rhassoul 5-in-1 Clay Treatment , which helped me skip Deep conditioning my hair since this product does it while cleansing my hair.

While in the shower, after rinsing the clay off, I sectioned my hair into 4 chunky twists. I then covered my hair with a t-shirt for about 10 mins.

On each section, I followed these steps:
  • Massage scalp with my oil mix
  • Apply SheaMoisture Yucca and Baobab Thickening and Growth Milk for moisture
  • Use oil mix to seal in moisture
  • Working in smaller sections within that big section, applied SheaMoisture JBCO Styling Lotion and flaxseed gel
  • Twisted hair

Once done twisting my entire hair, I used smaller flexirods (red) in front and larger flexirods (grey) in back to give more bouncy look at the back. **crossed my fingers ** and sat under the dryer for an hour and a half.

.... and after all that... my hair was still not dry. argH!!!

I decided to let it dry for about 8 more hours (all day).

I loved the results. My hair was super duper soft and shiny!! Also, the front bangs, I did a flat twist instead of my rope twists to give the roots more definition.

At night, I pinned up my hair in a loose puff and tied my scarf around the perimeter of my head. LIKE THIS:

The next morning since I needed to go to the gym, I used a mesh head wrap to secure my hair

After the gym, all I did was remove the wrap, remove all the pins, and shake...and go.

  1. Fantastic post and results! I was going to ask how many flexi-rods but now it doesn't even matter because you put them in on your freshly washed twists so I have an idea! So flaxseed gel and a styling lotion check. You know how I said I was trying a roller set this week well my hair has been stretching since Sunday but the weather is so cold like 4-5 degrees that I don't think I want to let it face the rugged cold right now!
