Our 5 Favorite Shampoo and Cleanser for Natural Hair (2015)

Image
This year, we got a chance to try out some shampoo and cleansers for our natural hair. The products that we loved the best worked well for my hair and my kids' natural hair. Aztec Beauty Indian Healing Clay "Bentonite Clay" This product works well as a cleanser and also as a conditioner. Although you need to mix it with other items, it clarifies our hair and makes our curls pop! Click here to find the clay How to Mix the Clay SheaMoisture Jamaican Black Castor Oil Strengthen, Grow & Restore Shampoo I absolutely love this sulfate-free shampoo. It is great for clarifying the hair without leaving it stripped. Click to find this shampoo. Naturalicious  Moroccan 5-in-1 Clay Treatment This clay created by Gwen Jimmere , the first African American woman to ever hold a patent for a natural hair product, is such a great product. Wash Day with Coils and Glory Rhassoul Clay

Image
Rhassoul Clay in hair I have not had much success with a DIY Rhassoul clay mix, however, I refuse to give up.  Yesterday, I decided to use the Coils and Glory Rhassoul clay and follow the instructions on how to mix it carefully. I mixed 1/4 cup of Rhassoul Clay with 3/4 cup of water, 2 tbsp. of Aloe Vera Juice and 1 tbsp. of my DIY Oil Mix . Although it was quite messy, it left my hair VERY VERY soft. I followed up with an unnecessary step of conditioning with Eden BodyWorks cleansing cowash . REALLY UNNECESSARY!! My hair was very clean and detangled even though I did not detangle prior!! I decided to put my hair into 5 chunky flat twists and rock a scarf all day while it dried.

Natural Hair Wash Day with SheaMoisture Fruit Fusion Coconut Water Weightless Hair Masque

Image
It's been a week, and I did not even have time this week to do my mid-week cowash. I started off by doing a Hot Oil treatment using Extra Virgin Coconut Oil with my new love, Thermal Hair Care Hot Head. After that, I shampooed my hair with Uncle Funky Daughter's Squeaky Deep Cleansing Shampoo . I decided to try using Eden Bodyworks Cleansing Cowash as my rinse out conditioner because I love the slip - Honestly, because I was too lazy to grab the SheaMoisture Raw Shea Butter Restorative Conditioner LOL!. For my deep condition, I decided to try the SheaMoisture Fruit Fusion Coconut Water Weightless Hair Masque that I got on my last trip to Ulta Beauty store. Since this product came out in the summer of this year, I had wanted to try it. However, since I was on my no buy and using up my products, I was unable to. First Impression When I first put this product on my hair, it was "Meh" (a term the girls use when something feels ordinary, not special). ...

Natural Hair Tip of the Day | PROPER MOISTURIZING

Image
The L.O.C Method is a method of layering products to lock in moisture into #naturalhair . Remember, oil is not a moisturizer. Using water alone is not beneficial because it evaporates easily. You can also use the L.C.O method. L for Liquid, O for oil and C for Cream   STEP 1: Apply a liquid to your hair such as water or a mixture of water and other products. Click here to learn how to create a moisturizing spritz. STEP 2: Apply an  oil or selection of oil to your hair. How to make your own oil mix. STEP 3: Apply a water based moisturize to your hair.
