My Scalp Felt As If It was on Fire | Impromptu Wash Day

Image
Today I had to do an impromptu wash day, just 5 days since my last wash day . Why?  I was testing a hair oil that my scalp did not like. It felt as if it was on fire. It is possible that I might have used too much of the oil because I had used the oil in the past mostly on my edges and I did not have this same feeling. This time, I applied it to my scalp and did a scalp massage. I did not wash off. It was not required or stated on the product. Long story short, I decided to wash my hair. I started by first examining my scalp. I recorded the video and will edit it and put it on my YouTube channel DiscoveringNatural this week.  I then detoxed my scalp with Revair Detox Pre-Wash Rinse . I shampooed with Sheamoisture JBCO shampoo. I use Manetain Hair Mask as my deep conditioner for 30 mins under a plastic cap. No heat.  Rinsed and then used Revair Leave in Conditioner.  I plan to twist my hair later this evening.  As an Amazon Influencer, I earn from qualif...

Does Vitamin B Complex help with Hair Loss?

Image
Vitamin B Complex does contain vitamins that can help prevent hair loss, such as biotin and vitamin B12. Biotin, also known as vitamin B7, helps create red blood cells which carry oxygen and nutrients to the scalp and hair follicles. Vitamin B12 is also essential for hair growth as a deficiency in it may lead to hair loss.  However, it is important to note that while a deficiency in vitamin B12 may lead to hair loss, there is no evidence to suggest that taking a supplement will improve hair growth if you are not deficient. To know if you are deficient, you need to get a bloodwork done by your doctor. Why You Get Dandruff When You Wear Braids

Image
@naecurly  There are several reasons why you may experience dandruff when wearing box braids: If you want one on one help with your hair, you can use this link to contact me  http://bit.ly/NaturalHairCoach 1. Traction alopecia: The constant tension on your hair follicles from the braids can lead to inflammation and irritation, causing dandruff. 2. Product buildup: Braids can trap hair products, oils, and dirt, leading to buildup and irritation on the scalp. 3. Reduced scalp circulation: The tight braids can restrict blood flow to the scalp, causing irritation and flaking. 4. Scalp irritation: The constant rubbing and tugging of the braids on your scalp can cause irritation and lead to dandruff. 5. Fungal infections: The warm, moist environment created by the braids can encourage fungal growth, leading to dandruff. To prevent dandruff when wearing box braids, try: 1. Using a gentle shampoo and conditioner. 2. Applying a scalp serum or oil to help reduce tension and promote circ...

Moisturizing Wash Day Routine

Image
(Last wash day February 5th) Detangling and Prepoo I started by detangling my hair with the Look Don’t Touch conditioner. After detangling one section, I twist it up. I did about 6 twists. Shampoo After that I rinsed my hair and use Shea Moisture JBCO shampoo to remove any product buildup. I first apply the shampoo to my scalp and then rinse. Then I apply a small amount of shampoo to the rest of my hair and squeeze then rinse. Deep Conditioning Treatment I applied Manetain Hair Mask to my washed twists and covered my hair with a plastic cap and heated cap. Left on for 30 minutes and  then rinse. Moisturizing I unraveled each twist and Esha Naturals Leave In Conditioner generously, and put more to the ends of my hair.  I sealed on the other Tailored Beauty Grow Thick Oil. I applied the oil to my scalp and edges and massages. Styling I put my hair into jumbo perm rods. My plan is to use this as a method to stretch my hair, not for a roller set style.

What Does A Good Shampoo Contain?

Image
A good shampoo should contain: 1. Gentle cleansing agents: Look for shampoos with mild surfactants like Behentrimonium chloride, behentrimonium methosulfate, cetrimonium chloride, decyl glucoside, lauryl glucoside, or coco-glucoside. You could also opt for sulfate free. 2. Moisturizing ingredients: Ingredients like glycerin, panthenol, argan oil, and coconut oil help hydrate and nourish your hair. 3. pH balance: A pH level close to the natural pH of hair (around 5.5) ensures gentle cleaning without stripping hair of its natural oils. 4. Amino acids: Amino acids like keratin, arginine, and glutamic acid help repair and strengthen hair. 5. Antioxidants: Antioxidants like vitamin E, green tea, and chamomile help protect hair from environmental stressors and damage. 6. No harsh chemicals: Avoid shampoos with sulfates, parabens, silicones, and artificial fragrances, which can damage hair over time. 7. Suitable for your hair type: Choose a shampoo formulated for your specific hair type...
