Sharing Kids' Hair Care with The Man

Earlier this year, I was at the soccer field talking with another soccer mom about ... yeah... hair. She started saying how her husband combs her daughter's hair and puts bows in it. I was like, ....errr... really!?. Hmm... this got me thinking... I have never thought of involving my husband in the care of the girls' hair. I don't even think he had ever combed the girls' hair before.

The next day, we started the learning process.

It is very important for us to incorporate our spouses, partners, and other people that will be involved in the care of the child's hair.  Share the knowledge!!

You can start by teaching him/her about doing the LOC method to moisturize the child's hair. It's as simple as that.  He might not know all the natural hair terminology, but let him practice the little things like brushing the kids hair.  My husband can't braid or do twists (even with Lil Sis trying to teach him LOL), but he does a good job at getting her hair ready for school; moisturized, sealed, and brushed.

Morning Hair Routine

L - (Liquid) - Spritz hair with water

O - (Oil) - Apply oil to scalp and hair
C- (Cream) - Apply cream to hair

Seal ends of hair with Whipped Shea Butter

Brush hair lightly to catch any flyaways

Is your spouse or partner involved in the hair care of your child?

  1. I love this, awesome daddy! We love to see hands-on dads!

Oh yes my husband is very much involve. He sat thru your consultation and that was a real eye opener for him. I think its very important that Dad's get involve as it gives them appreciation for the women in their live.

  3. I love this! The hubby gets involved on his own esp when he sees the kids hair need attentiong and i'm too busy for it. He looses out the braids or twists and sometimes places em in big braids after a wash. I think it brings us closer as a fam and he loves seeing the process of their growth.

    1. That is so cool. When the whole family is involved, it DOES bring every one together. Thanks for commenting.
