Wrapping Natural Hair with Jane Carter Wrap and Roll

Image
Last wash day , I decided wrap my hair with the Jane Carter Solution Wrap and Roll . Read more about my experience here. Well, my reasoning was that it is a wrapping product, so I was expecting EXCELLENT results. This was not so. My hair was stiff and dry. My hair actually stood like this on its own I had so much breakage from detangling it and I was at the point of tears! It took me nearly 2 hours to detangle my hair and re-moisturize it. To moisturize it, I spirtz my hair with some water, added Qhemet Biologics Amla and Olive Heavy Cream , which is excellent for dry and coarse hair, and then sealed with my DIY SheaAloe Butter . I then twisted my hair into Bantu Loops. Exhausted! I was exhausted, but glad that it was over. My hair is now moisturized and ready for a twistout for church this morning. Probably going to wash out the Jane Carter solution product because I don't know what other damage it will do to my hair if left in for a long ...

Flexirod on Natural Hair (Take 1)

Image
It was 8pm late Saturday night, and it was wash day... but I did not feel like starting the process ... so what did I do, I decided to try my hands on Flexirods. Okay, DISCLAIMER time!! I have not done flexirods on my entire hair before, so that was going to be fun. I bought 4 packs of flexirods ( Lure Rubber Rods )  from Ross Department Store for $4.99 each about a month ago, and decided to put them into use. First, I spritzed my hair with a mixture of water and Aloe Vera Juice . This helps in dampening my hair and also detangling my hair that was in a low roll and tuck ponytail. Next, I sectioned my hair into 5 sections. Taking each section, I put one full pump of Jane Carter Wrap and Roll setting lotion, and then added Eco Styler Gel (Argan) to the length of my hair and then more to the ends. I used my fingers to further detangle and smoothen the gel to my hair. When wrapping the my hair in the rods, I wrapped such that my hair will not overlay the previously ...

Wash Day Diary: Sept 5th 2014: Discovery Black Tea and SheaMoisture Intensive Hydration

Image
After my wash day , 5 days ago with Curls products, my hair has felt extra dry, despite the fact that I used the new SheaMoisture Manuka Honey & Mafura Oil Intensive Hydration . The funny thing is that Lil Sis and I did exactly the same steps, and used the same products. Her hair still feels soft and fluffy, while mine had a dry feeling. Another thing I noticed was that I had a ton of straggling ends , which is something I had not experience in a long time. Because of this reason, I had to co-wash today with my beloved Eden Bodyworks Cleansing Co-wash . After washing, I decided to try my Black Tea rinse with the SheaMoisture Intensive Hydration Hair Masque. Oh-la-la... my hair felt so soft Then.... .... ... I did something.   After I moisturized with my oil mix and SheaMoisture Curl and Style Milk , I wanted to see what it would look like wrapping my hair with the Jane Carter Wrap and Roll . As soon as I put this in my hair, the softness vanished and ...

Wash Day Diary: Getting Rid of the Ugly | October 23rd 2014

Image
On my last wash day , I tried doing a roller set with Jane Carter Wrap and Roll . I have a hate-love relationship with this product. Anyways, after my epic fail at this style, which I now vouch NEVER EVER to do again, my hair was tangled, lost hair, almost did a Big Chop, just hair nightmare, I decided to rewash my hair because nothing I did could get rid of the dry tangled feeling. I decided to cowash with the Eden Bodyworks All Natural Cleansing Cowash , my Boo.   Then, because it was 9:30pm and too late into the night, I did a quick 10 mins deep conditioning session with what was left of the SheaMoisture Purification Masque , #Empty . Rinse and did a cold water rinse. Post Wash - Applied oil mix to scalp for a massage. - Before I went to wash my hair, I put the SheaMoisture Curl and Style Milk, my leave in, in the fridge. I read somewhere that putting your leave in in the fridge will help close your cuticles. When I applied it, I most say, my hair felt smoother and...

Adventures in Roller Setting Natural Hair

Image
Big Sis had her 9 year old photoshoot and I wanted her hair to look really nice. She and I looked on Pinterest for pictures of different styles. As you know, lately, I make her make hairstyling choices on her hair. She wanted a roller set style. I was up to the task, although I am not an expert in roller setting.   We used Jane Carter Solution Wrap & Roll after sulfate-free shampooing her hair with Elasta QP Crème Conditioning Shampoo, and applying our leave in, Giovanni Direct Leave In. I moisturized her scalp with my oil mix. We used 3/4 inches (orange) and 11/16 (peach) perm rods from Sally's Beauty Store. For the ends, I used Sally's Mesh end papers. This was my first time using end papers. Woohoo!!       While I installed the perm rods, Lil Sis built castles with them.. LOL! It took about an hour and a half to install about 40 perm rods and I let Big Sis sit under the dryer for a combined 45 mins. She also air dried it...
