I am researching two specific high blood medicines today. Here are my findings:

Carvedilol

This medicine is known to have a side effect of hair loss. Clinical studies shows that 24% of people started experiencing hair loss after using for a month. It was mostly women who experienced this loss.

Chlorthalidone

There was conflicting evidence that this caused hair loss. Some people experienced slight hair loss but most dod not.

There are many medications that we take that could be causing hair loss. Make sure you do your research and consult with your doctor.

Blood Pressure Medications That Do Not Cause Hair Loss

While even blood pressure drugs that have a potential hair loss side effect rarely cause hair loss in reality, some drugs for high blood pressure have an even lower likelihood of leading to hair loss. These include:

Angiotensin II Receptor Blockers (ARBs): Drugs like losartan, valsartan, and candesartan belong to this class. ARBs are commonly used as an alternative to ACE inhibitors, and hair loss is not a common side effect.

Calcium Channel Blockers (CCBs): Medications such as amlodipine, nifedipine, and diltiazem are CCBs that help lower blood pressure. Hair loss is generally not associated with this class of medications.
