Our 5 Favorite Deep Conditioners for Natural Hair

SheaMoisture Fruit Fusion Coconut Water Weightless Hair Masque

SheaMoisture Fruit Fusion Coconut Water Weightless Hair Masque
The first time I used this product, I was not feeling it.... until after using my Hot Head. My hair was amazingly soft and weightless!! This hands-down is my favorite deep conditioner right now.

SheaMoisture SuperFruit Complex 10-in-1 Renewal System Hair Masque

SheaMoisture SuperFruit Complex 10-in-1 Renewal System Hair Masque
This deep conditioner is very moisturizing. If you are looking to add moisture to your hair, try this deep conditioner. We have been using it for a while and it works really well for the girls' hair too. Click here to find this product.

SheaMoisture African Black Soap Purification Masque

SheaMoisture African Black Soap Purification Masque
This multi-purpose product is great for so many uses. What is a multi-purpose product? Watch this to find out:

We have used this as a pre-poo, detangler, clarifier and deep conditioner. However, since SheaMoisture changed the formula, it has been hard to find the older version that worked for us. We did find it here though >> Click here

Eden Bodyworks All Natural Deep Conditioner : Jojoba Monoi

Eden Bodyworks All Natural Deep Conditioner : Jojoba Monoi
If you are looking for a moisture-rich deep conditioner that doesn't contain proteins, this is a great one. It is super thick, but when used with heat, I find that it absorbs into our hair strands.

SheaMoisture Manuka Honey & Mafura Oil Hair Masque

SheaMoisture Manuka Honey & Mafura Oil Hair Masque
Another great "moisture-rich" deep conditioner is the SheaMoisture Manuka Honey & Mafura Oil hair masque. This left our hair feeling soft, and the moisture lasted even after the deep conditioning session. I used this product when doing my black tea rinse.

Our 5 Favorite Shampoo and Cleanser for Natural Hair (2015)

Our 5 Favorite Shampoo and Cleanser for Natural Hair (2015)

This year, we got a chance to try out some shampoo and cleansers for our natural hair. The products that we loved the best worked well for my hair and my kids' natural hair.

Aztec Beauty Indian Healing Clay "Bentonite Clay"

This product works well as a cleanser and also as a conditioner. Although you need to mix it with other items, it clarifies our hair and makes our curls pop! Click here to find the clay

How to Mix the Clay

SheaMoisture Jamaican Black Castor Oil Strengthen, Grow & Restore Shampoo

I absolutely love this sulfate-free shampoo. It is great for clarifying the hair without leaving it stripped. Click to find this shampoo.

Naturalicious  Moroccan 5-in-1 Clay Treatment

This clay created by Gwen Jimmere, the first African American woman to ever hold a patent for a natural hair product, is such a great product. It has helped in shortening our wash day. You can skip the deep conditioning process after using this product. NO MIXING REQUIRED. Click to find this product.

SheaMoisture SuperFruit Complex 10-in-1 Renewal System Shampoo

This shampoo provides great moisture to our hair and since it is sulfate-free, it does not strip our hair. It does well at cleansing our hair and restoring moisture to it. Click here to find it.

Eden Bodyworks All Natural Cleansing Cowash

If you love cowashing your hair, then you have got to try this cleansing cowash. Not only does it cleanse, it also has amazing slip that help you detangle your hair. When we are not shampooing our hair, we cowash. Click here to get you some!!

Watch how we use this to cleanse Lil Sis's hair.

Wash Day with Coils and Glory Rhassoul Clay

Wash Day with Coils and Glory Rhassoul Clay DiscoveringNatural
Rhassoul Clay in hair
I have not had much success with a DIY Rhassoul clay mix, however, I refuse to give up.  Yesterday, I decided to use the Coils and Glory Rhassoul clay and follow the instructions on how to mix it carefully.

Wash Day with Coils and Glory Rhassoul Clay DiscoveringNatural

I mixed 1/4 cup of Rhassoul Clay with 3/4 cup of water, 2 tbsp. of Aloe Vera Juice and 1 tbsp. of my DIY Oil Mix.
Wash Day with Coils and Glory Rhassoul Clay DiscoveringNatural
Although it was quite messy, it left my hair VERY VERY soft. I followed up with an unnecessary step of conditioning with Eden BodyWorks cleansing cowash. REALLY UNNECESSARY!!

My hair was very clean and detangled even though I did not detangle prior!!

I decided to put my hair into 5 chunky flat twists and rock a scarf all day while it dried.

Natural Hair Wash Day with SheaMoisture Fruit Fusion Coconut Water Weightless Hair Masque

Natural Hair Wash Day with SheaMoisture Fruit Fusion Coconut Water Weightless Hair Masque

It's been a week, and I did not even have time this week to do my mid-week cowash. I started off by doing a Hot Oil treatment using Extra Virgin Coconut Oil with my new love, Thermal Hair Care Hot Head.

Thermal Hair Care Hot Head DiscoveringNatural

After that, I shampooed my hair with Uncle Funky Daughter's Squeaky Deep Cleansing Shampoo. I decided to try using Eden Bodyworks Cleansing Cowash as my rinse out conditioner because I love the slip - Honestly, because I was too lazy to grab the SheaMoisture Raw Shea Butter Restorative Conditioner LOL!.
Natural Hair Wash Day with SheaMoisture Fruit Fusion Coconut Water Weightless Hair Masque

For my deep condition, I decided to try the SheaMoisture Fruit Fusion Coconut Water Weightless Hair Masque that I got on my last trip to Ulta Beauty store. Since this product came out in the summer of this year, I had wanted to try it. However, since I was on my no buy and using up my products, I was unable to.

First Impression
When I first put this product on my hair, it was "Meh" (a term the girls use when something feels ordinary, not special).

I TOTALLY misjudged the product, after using my hot head for 30 minutes on it... OH-La-La! The softness I got was AMAZING!! and my hair did feel weightless

This product is designed for folks with fine and medium hair.
Ingredients-
Water, Cocos Nucifera (Coconut) Fruit Juice, Aloe Barbadensis Leaf Juice, Cetearyl Alcohol, Butyrospermum Parkii (Shea) Butter*, Capric/Caprylic Triglycerides, Theobroma Cacao (Cocoa) Seed Butter, Cetyl Alcohol, Stearyl Alcohol, Behentrimonium Chloride, Fragrance (Essential Oil Blend), Behentrimonium Methosulfate, Glyceryl Caprylate, Glycerin (Vegetable), Litchi Chinensis (Lychee) Fruit Extract, Hylocereus Undatus (Dragon Fruit) Fruit Extract, Pyrus Malus (Apple) Fruit Extract, Garcinia Livingstonei (African Mangosteen) Seed Oil, Persea Gratissima (Avocado) Oil, Mangifera Indica (Mango) Seed Butter, Hydrolyzed Rice Protein, Psidium Guajava Fruit Extract, Myrciaria Dubia Fruit Extract, Tocopheryl Acetate, Panthenol, Cetrimonium Chloride, Glyceryl Undecylenate, Citrus Grandis (Grapefruit) Fruit Extract.

After rinsing this out, I followed up with my Rice Water Rinse (video coming soon).

Natural Hair Tip of the Day || PROPER MOISTURIZING DiscoveringNatural

The L.O.C Method is a method of layering products to lock in moisture into #naturalhair. Remember, oil is not a moisturizer. Using water alone is not beneficial because it evaporates easily. You can also use the L.C.O method. L for Liquid, O for oil and C for Cream
